This is one!! I think you’re so ready for this and have done fantastic during this plan. Most of the hard work is done. The important thing to do is stick to goal pace throughout. The difficult thing with a half is that the RPE will continue to rise even though you are sticking to a sensible pace. So those final 3 miles could be the toughest you’ve run during this block, simply because the effort is that of a fast 5k race, but the pace is still steady. You should be working at a high RPE though in those last 3 miles and if you’re not, you know you can kick on and finish strongly. For me half marathons are split into 4 parts. 6 miles comfortable. 4 miles starting to work harder, 3 miles everything I’ve got left. If the pace does drop off, try and ignore the watch and just keep working hard. You will still be on for a PB even if you slip behind target. But I have every confidence you will smash this. I’ve put 10:10 as target pace because these big city races often end up being a few hundred metres longer, so stick to the race line as best as possible, inside lane if it’s a loop. Very best of luck Rebecca.
