75 Mins Easy

LOAD: 19

75 Mins @ Easy Pace (RPE: 3)

Nice and easy!! Why 75 mins and not 60? To hit that training load target and ensure your plan is as consistent, week in week out as possible, to reduce that risk of injury.

The beauty of having smashed out 2 sessions is a nice easy run Sunday. Trust this process, I really think it will work, you’ll be doing long run most weeks for the rest of the summer, so embrace this shorter run.

I know it was longer than 75 minutes but it was a slow run! So I think that compensates. First proper offer road run for a while. The ankles were quite testy actually. I remember why I don’t end up doing these last year because of the impact on the ankles. But they weren’t like they have been so I’m hoping I’m getting the stretching right this time.

To be honest, when off roading, you do need to go for longer to hit the same training load as on the road. So 90 mins on the trails probably equates to 75 mins on the road given the stop start nature and slower pace. I would listen to the ankles though and if the trails do make them worse it might be sensible to reign it in a little. I’ve done a few trails of late where the ground is so firm and rutted that the ankles are twisting and turning a lot on impact. Well done though Kelly, good to hear they are better than before.
