Half/Marathon 10K Tempo

LOAD: 330

2km WU @ Easy Pace (RPE: 3)

5k @ Marathon Pace (RPE: 4)
5k @ Half Marathon Pace (RPE: 6)

2km CD @ Easy Pace (RPE: 3)

A good session to mix up paces. WU & CD very important to slowly build the pace.

This would be a good session Tuesday to keep the legs moving well and it’s far enough out from London to give you plenty of rest. After the lighter week this should be fine and feel relatively comfortable.

Good session. I set off early as had a busy day looming. The wind was behind me on the first 5 km after warm up and it was easy, low RPE for the marathon paced section though first 3k were below target pace and the next 2k were much quicker. On the return leg (kms 7-11) with wind against, it felt much harder to keep to the target pace though checking on Garmin I actually undercut it by quite a bit. I was definitely putting in more effort on that section. I felt upbeat and enjoyed the session, with no niggles.

Great stuff Sarah. These are good sessions as they make you think about your pace, RPE and form. Too often we head out for easy miles, and I’m glad you enjoyed it too. Further evidence you are running well as we approach race day. I really feel like you can take on London with confidence and the sense this training block has gone really well.
