In Bexhill now. Fast flat route. Ideal for a quick time. Pace yourself at the start and then in those final few kms try and beat those ahead of you and not be overtaken.

COACH SIMON NOTES 🍊

Hastings Runners doing what they do best. Offering free races for their members. It’s Β£20 to sign up, 2nd claim available. That allows free entry into the 8 races. Plug over.

As with any 5k getting a good warm up in can be essential. So a minimum of 10 minutes of easy running, followed by some running drills and even some strides.

In 2025 the race has been moved to Bexhill seafront but again provides a lovely flat route without any hills. The main challenge running along the promenade will always be the wind.

With that in mind keep an eye on the forecast and plan for any tricky wind conditions. If you can then find someone to tuck in behind, when running into the wind, that will definitely help you run a faster time.

As with any 5k, try and pace yourself and not set off too fast. Whilst it’s a short distance, if you fall into the trap of running the first kilometre too quickly then it’s likely you will struggle at the end of the race.

With this being a Hastings Runners event it can help knowing those around you. We hear it all the time with parkrun, “It’s not a Race”, well this is a race, so in those last few kilometres give it everything you have got to chase down that runner in front and make sure no-one comes past you.

Don’t forget to finish with a 10 minute cool down jog. It’s an opportunity to support those other runners still finishing their 5k behind. Very best of luck. You got this.
