45 Mins Easy

LOAD: 100

45 Mins @ Easy Pace (RPE: 3)

The only real mistake you can make here is going too fast. Try and pick a flat route as well. Hills will push that RPE too high.

A nicely timed recovery week post Rye. Are you planning on doing the Hastings 5 Miler? Apologies if I’ve asked that already.

PACE

Not sure why but I felt absolutely shattered after Sunday so I gave my body an extra day’s rest as really felt like it needed it! This was one of those get up and out before you talk yourself out of it runs. I didn’t take my headphones, I just focused on feeling relaxed and moving my feet over quickly. I felt nice comfortable and like I was putting a lot less effort in but going at a quicker pace than I usually do for an easy run. My heart rate stayed low in zone 2 the whole time. I think it’s a good reflexion of how my strength work is working to compliment my running form. The frustration is that I’m still feeling uncomfortable in my lower back and glute.

That’s great to hear that you were able to hit that decent pace whilst keeping the HR down. Sounds like you were working on all the right things. I pulled out the 2017 Hastings Half Marathon because of issues in my left side. I’ve still not addressed them completely and the glute twinges from time to time. I don’t want that to sound all doom and gloom but I think sometimes the life of a runner is having some discomfort. That’s not to say we can’t minimise that and allow improvement. But even if it goes for a spell, in 6 months time it might reappear on occasions after a hard race or session.
