5 x 1 Mile Reps

LOAD: 360

1.25 Mile WU @ Easy Pace (RPE: 3)

1 Mile Reps @ 5 Mile Pace (RPE: 8)
3 Mins Recovery
x 5

1.25 Mile CD @ Easy Pace (RPE: 3)

A challenging session as holding goal pace for 1 mile can be tough, but it builds up your endurance and mental strength.

A few of us might be doing this Tuesday morning, but only if you feel fully recovered from Sunday and the Rye 10. I prefer Friday in truth. This is a prep session for the 5 miler next week.

PACE

This was challenging, I was puffing at the end of each rep. Hard to hold the speed. Best pace was 8:55

This is one of the toughest sessions we do, simply because the reps are so long. Honestly, from experience I know how much harder doing these tough runs solo is. If I’d tried to run a 5:54 mile on my own in that wind on Saturday I would have really struggled. Stick me in a pack on the track and it felt relatively comfortable. Something to remember when thinking about the 5 miler. The pace that day could feel much easier than this, simply by having other runners around you. Really well done Mark.
