Hastings 5 Miler

LOAD: 380

10 Mins WU @ Easy Pace (RPE: 2)

5 Miles @ 5 Mile Pace (RPE: 5-9)

10 Mins CD @ Easy Pace (RPE: 3)

5 miles is a really tough distance to get right. Rest assured, this is tough. The first mile is so important, don’t go off too quick and you’ll set yourself up for a strong race.

This should be a fun day and I think you’re running really well right now. It will be interesting to see how you fare in your age category as we normally get some strong runners in this event. I think anywhere around 40 minutes would be a fantastic time. That’s based on good conditions and not much wind 🤞 Good luck. Smash it Al!!

Target Pace: 8:00 Target Time: 40:00

Well , had a back strain and adductor problems in the week decided to run .pleased my problem had mostly gone , not very happy with my time compared with last year’s time , conditions not conducive to to fast time , I ran faster going out against the wind then with it ,on the return half . Don’t know why , I really didn’t check the pace I was running , ran what I was comfortable with considering the wind .

I think with the injury issue this week and the tough conditions it’s important we don’t focus too much on time here. Your recent parkrun efforts highlight that you’re running better now than 12 months ago. So we’ll just put this down as a blip and hopefully have you injury free in no time. Well done Allan.
