60 Mins Easy to Marathon Pace

LOAD: 200

20 Mins @ Easy Pace (RPE: 2)
20 Mins @ Steady Pace (RPE: 3)
20 Mins @ Marathon Pace (RPE: 4)

Rather than just head out and do 60 mins easy, this goes through the gears a little and will hopefully help you improve running economy as the speed picks up a little. It’s still a light session but makes the easy runs more interesting. Best done on the flat to hit consistent paces.

I like this session now we are closing in on that marathon block. Good to appreciate the difference between easy pace and marathon pace.

Legs are still super tired. It band and thighs are like rocks. So I took to the trails and thought I would put a bit of speed work in along those. No where near marathon pace at any point but my legs just don’t have it in them today. Going to do plenty of stretching and rolling over the next few days to release them a bit. I did however very much enjoy being out on the trails

Sounds like you still got the right training load in by pushing the pace a touch and much rather you’d enjoy the run, that rigidly stick to the session. Perhaps these hard races in consecutive weeks are a cause of tightness, just 1 to go. But it does concern me a little about the potential race schedule ahead of Chester and perhaps prioritising (4 races in 4 weeks at the moment) We might need to rethink that if sub 3 is the priority. A discussion for another day perhaps.
