Bexhill 5K

LOAD: 250

10 Mins WU @ Easy Pace (RPE: 2)

5K @ 5K Pace (RPE: 6-9)

10 Mins CD @ Easy Pace (RPE: 3)

If the wind is kind then these events offer a good opportunity for a fast time. There are several switchbacks which can slow you down.

The forecast isn’t great so if you have changed your mind on this one, the Tuesday evening gang would be just as productive.

Ok so no one told me I would be out of my depth with these local elite runners 🙈😂 Although not fully disappointed with my chip time of 28:15 I’m also really frustrated. First mile I was going amazing! Knew I wouldn’t be able to hold it the whole time but wanted to bank a little time as I knew I would be running against the wind on the way back. Felt great for the first 1.35 miles then bam! Legs were so painful I could have cried. So frustrating as I knew I had a better time in me but also relieved as at one point thought I wasn’t going to make a sub thirty. I can do better and i will!

Well done Jodie. Another excellent time. Sorry to hear it suddenly got tough. Banking time rarely works as to go quicker than your used to will take up a lot of energy and possibly why you found it tough after 1.3 miles. Through 2km you were on 26 min pace and then obviously when the wind comes into play, you’ve got less energy. From experience the best approach is to accept pre race that it’s unlikely you’ll be hitting your normal time in tougher conditions, unless you have a pacer to tuck in behind, so then you just change the goals slightly, still go off at normal pace, so when you hit the wind you have more energy to keep going. But this all takes experience and you will get there. It’s another great race banked and what the first few kms show is that you have that speed in the locker, so that’s exciting.
