LOAD: 70

15 Miles @ Goal Pace (RPE: 4-8)

A tough race with some tricky hills at the end. The main decision here is whether it’s going to be an easy long run or a hard race?

Would be nice if you can form a little group running at a steady pace. No need at this stage of the plan to push the pace too hard, but you be well rested after a lighter week so if you find yourself running solo at 10 or 11 miles, no reason not to kick on and finish strongly. Testing yourself when the hills roll around in a race format is not something you get the chance to do often. Very best of luck. Hope you have a great race.

ENJOYMENT

PACE

Well i went out with the idea of 6.40 avg felt really good on the first couple of miles at the low 6min miles mark or marathon effort so stuck with it and decide to work on the effort rather than pace. So many people went out hard of which I took advantage off later on. I found myself on my own at at about mile 9 and once I hit the hills on the road I started taking people left, right and center. The foot seamed fine until just after 9 mile when I had a sore spot arise right where my foot has been hurting so I backed out a little. It turns out my sock had a hole and had given me one hell of a blister 🤦‍♂️. I think I snuck into the top 10and managed to bag 1st male 40 which was a supprise given i was cruzing avg HR was 154 which is perfect for the effort I put in. What a great way to get an session in and to train self discipline/pacing. All in all ready to go again let’s have it. Now time for a beer in the old town cheers 🍻

So much love for this feedback and the positive energy coming from it. Sounds like you had a really enjoyable race here and picking off runners on the hills must have been a real treat. I think you were 7th Jax was saying when looking at the results and there were some bloody strong runners there this year. Glad the work injury didn’t stop you, perhaps time to buy some new socks though. I think it’s days like this where it makes all that hard work worthwhile. Hopefully plenty more like this ahead. Great work Steve.
