LOAD: 70

15 Miles @ Goal Pace (RPE: 4-8)

A tough race with some tricky hills at the end. The main decision here is whether it’s going to be an easy long run or a hard race?

Treat this as a long run in terms of pacing. The tough part of this comes towards the end with some very challenging hills. Walking these hills is in no way a failure. It’s a race strategy which will ensure you get to the end feeling strong. So take a break up the steepest of the hills. The two Sue’s (Alabaster and Sparkes) are both running and will probably adopt this strategy so perhaps start with them and see how the race unfolds, you might find you run the whole event together and offer each other support. Very best of luck Rebecca.

Completed it. Tweaked my calf going over a little humpback bridge around mile 2, so anything other than completion was off the table. Really pleased Lou was about the same speed and we got each other around with walking up the hills as Lou’s hip was playing up when running up hills. I probably could have gone a bit faster in the final few miles but at that point it was moot. Enjoyed the route and would do it again next year but can’t be carrying any injury.

Fantastic work Rebecca. Sorry to hear the calf caused you problems but the fact you still completed it is testament to your character and current fitness. Not many of the team have said they are keen to run next year so that’s a positive right there.
