LOAD: 70

15 Miles @ Goal Pace (RPE: 4-8)

A tough race with some tricky hills at the end. The main decision here is whether it’s going to be an easy long run or a hard race?

Change of tactics. I’m happy with that and have tweaked a few things this and next week to account for a big effort here. I think marathon pace would be a good target. Obviously at the start and on the flat you’ll be running quicker than that, but the hills will then slow you down. But if you’re through the first 3 miles in 25-26 mins that would be good pacing in my opinion. Very best of luck and hope you manage to bag 200 points here.

🤬 Way off pace today

PACE

Went off too quick at the start. Hit 3 miles in 24 minutes so not overall too quick. Felt fine until mile 7 when I hit a hall came over dizzy, shakey literally could of easily stopped as felt I had nothing left in me. From here alot of walking and slower pace was done! Took it alot slower but steady had pain in my glute then from around miles 12 my shin was really hurting. Just really wasn’t my day. Knocked me alot as I haven’t had a run like this in a long time. I felt like I had never run before. Literally walking to points telling myself I will run from there! Haven’t done that in so long. But beat last year’s time by 20 minutes which is good.

Such has been your rise in the past 12-18 months, at some point you were due a race like. I’m surprised it’s not happened sooner, simply because I have them quite often. Went into my Seaford 10k chasing a PB and had been running really well. For whatever reason on the day I was so far off my pace, despite working really hard. It was a real kick in the teeth as I felt like I was close. Took me a while to get over that one but 3 weeks late smashed the 5 miler and felt amazing. So these runs do happen, sometimes without any real reason. It’s how we respond to them that makes the biggest difference, you’ll bounce back, I know you will. Plus you have another medal for your collection as well.
