Bewl 15

LOAD: 70

15 Miles @ Goal Pace (RPE: 4-8)

A tough race with some tricky hills at the end. The main decision here is whether it’s going to be an easy long run or a hard race?

I know you said you weren’t 100% sure about this. So if you do change your mind let me know. I’ll be doing a Sunday long run anyway in Hastings. If you do this event then pace wise it should really be similar to your normal long run pace. The underfoot conditions do make it more challenging and the hills towards the end are very tough. So you want to save some energy for those. If you do walk at all, count to 30 secs and go again. And don’t see walking as a failure, it’s a strategy to get you to the end. At one of the XC events last year the winning female walked some of the hill.

Found it tough and a lot of walking in places but overall enjoyed it and glad I did it in the end.

It is a tough race. Those hills are brutal and the heat doesn’t help. At this stage of the training we don’t need to worry too much about the time, just see at as a good long run banked, and glad you enjoyed it too.
