2 Miles @ Half Marathon Pace (RPE: 6-8)
1 Mile @ Easy Pace (RPE: 3)
x 4

A big half marathon session for those who like to work in miles. A real opportunity to practice goal pace and build some confidence ahead of your race. Each rep will get progressively tougher, so dig deep towards the end of this one.

FEEDBACK

ENJOYMENT

RPE

🤬 Way off pace today

PACE

I didn’t enjoy that at all today. I think a combination of things. It was so early so I hadn’t fuelled like I usually would before a longer run and felt a bit sick. I’ve got some DOMs from 2 days of strength training. My shoes randomly started rubbing and I needed the loo the whole time but nothing was open that early. 🫣 Honestly just not my day today. I walked up the hill home really deflated and thinking I’m going to give it all up and just be a hiker! Struggled to hit and hold the HM pace today. It felt like really hard work to get there. Feeling a bit less pessimistic now and reminding myself that this year hasn’t been my year and injury just hasn’t allowed me to train the way I’d have like too so to stop being so hard on myself.!!

There was so much against you here. And was it the right session for this moment in time? Probably not. So I’ll take some blame. I used to play golf, as you know, and you’d think golf, would be a relaxing enjoyable sport, which takes no effort. But I used to practice hard all week, and then get into the competition and hit a shit shot somewhere in the first 4 or 5 holes, and I’d have those exact same thoughts, why do I bother, I’m just going to give all this up. I remind myself of that when I have a bad run, other hobbies are no different, it’s just a bad day. And the main benefits of running are the community and friendships. I’m meeting new people all the time and that’s why I love it. Trust me I still have runs like this, we all do. You got up early, ran some decent miles, so just need to try and spin it. No need to pretend you enjoyed it or are happy, but just take that “better than nothing” attitude some days.
