The Amble

LOAD: 74

Up to 40km @ Easy Pace (RPE: 3)

Love this. Around 40km from Ditchling Beacon to Hampden Park on the South Downs Way. Well signposted. Depending on where you’re at with your training this is most likely to be a walk/run, especially up some of the hills. If you do struggle just hop on the bus for a leg.

Best advice I can give here is completely ignore the watch and walk “all” of the hills. That way you should be able to cover the whole distance without picking up an injury. Just a good day out really rather than a training run.

Suprised myself with this one! You was right. What an amazing run to do! Lovely company and amazing views. I could of gone off but that wasnt the aim did run ahead a few times but came back or waited. Found the first 10k a struggle to keep slower. I just wanted to go! But gladwe all did it together was such a good day out. And ended up still feeling good!

So pleased you enjoyed it and you did the right thing to hold back and wait. Obviously my experience was slightly different, but on this occasion it was nice to have some solitude on the trails. After all I spend all week talking to runners, about running, every now and again it’s nice to have a break 😂 But really well done Lindsey and a big confidence boost for the Ultra, knowing you can cover the distance and feel strong at the end. Also thank you to your other half for driving, hope he didn’t mind too much?
