Plan 6 – Week 10

  • 18th August 2025

All but a 30 mins easy run which I will catch up on tomorrow. It’s been a pretty stressful work work and it’s taken up a lot of my time and thoughts. I’ve still been buzzing though from completing my first marathon and surprised by how ok my body feels aside from my usual back a glute discomfort.

Got my long run in solo in Saturday so I could get a swim in on the lake at Rye with Sue and Su. Absolutely loved that and having a coach there to give me a few tips was a big help! He was very impressed with my swimming and asked what my swim background is…I don’t have one!! Feel more confident about the serpentine after getting a couple of laps in a will definitely try and get there more before the big race.

Really happy with my recovery this week. By back has been quite uncomfortable towards the end of the week but just feels like something I have to live with until I’ve managed to get more answers.Β  Feels like a solid week.

Starting to have a little think now about what I might like to focus on after this plan.

Discomfort rather than pain. Although the odd nerve pinch is horrible. But otherwise just feeling a pull sensation from my mid back to glute

COACH

Give you the 100% as you squeezed in that 30 min run Monday. I think sometimes just reflecting on the overall picture can give us more pleasure. If you’ve rewound say 3 months and said in August you’re not only going to run a marathon, but you’re going feel fine doing it and not even need anytime off, you’d have responded “don’t be ridiculous”. So this is a hugely positive week. I also love that swimming feedback and you should feel quite smug (perhaps not the right word) about that, it’s a great compliment to get from a coach. Swimming is such a good form of cross training and I’m seeing that with more of the team. It also makes it exciting that you could get fitter and faster without running more miles, knowing that there are other options like that which limit the impact that running does. I’m really pleased with how things are going right now given what you’ve had to deal with. Great week Alice!
