Plan 3 – Week 16

  • 25th August 2025

I don’t know where to begin, I’ve struggled mentally and physically, I feel like I can’t push through a mental barrier after running 10K. My whole body and mind want to completely shut off. I feel lost and just feel like a failure. I know how awful I have been with this plan but I’ve felt like I’ve been drowning. I haven’t been taking my phone on runs with me as I’m getting constant work calls but then runs have been tracked which I know is not ideal at all. I’m so worried about my run on Sunday that I just want be capable.

No injury issues

COACH

I think without realising you are probably one of the strongest members of my team mentally. Just to overcome what you have and to achieve so much so soon. I think obviously with the recent anniversary you need to give yourself a bit of leeway in terms of the training. But I think there have been signs which suggest to me, you’re more than capable of running the half marathon on Sunday. Let’s not forget you are now a marathon runner, twice as far. I think it’s important we put aside any targets or pace goals and just run at a pace which feels easy to you. In fact I think you’d be wise to again leave your watch and phone behind and just enjoy the atmosphere. And if you need to walk a little bit, so be it. I’ve walked in half marathons. I did the Hastings once in 2 hours and 34 minutes. But I still got round. In fact it’s some of those slower race times I’m most proud of, because when I was struggling the most, physically and a little mentally I just kept showing up, I didn’t quit. And as things then slowly got better, so did my running, but I never would have gone on my journey had I not kept turning up when things are tough. And you’ve had it 100 times tougher than me. Hence why I have so much admiration and why I know you will be fine on Sunday. Go smash it.
