Plan 3 – Week 13

On the training points question, the points are right but I could work harder to hit them. Harder said than done, but I know I’ve been inconsistent at times!

No injury issues

COACH

We all have to work within our time constraints and the availability that we have. And ultimately that’s the challenge I enjoy as a coach. So there’s no point me setting you 5 runs a week if you simply don’t have the time to do them. But then how do we still progress? Simply, we make better use of the time you do have but working harder. As you said in your feedback and I think that’s something we can address post HHM. I’ve actually, for the first time, started creating my own sessions (I’ve always used ones I’ve done in the past or seen others do). One of the reasons for doing this is to make them more demanding. For example a 10k race earns us 45pts. And generally in the build up we’ll do sessions ranging from 28-40 to prepare for that. But in your case, with less time, why not do 10k session that hit 50pts. Yes they push you hard, but then the idea being the actual race itself will feel easier. So to summarize, post HHM if we go again for the next plan, this would be my approach. Fewer runs, but bigger sessions.
