Plan 2 – Week 6

  • 8th - 14th September

It was pretty impossible to do sessions this week, in the evenings. I wasn’t quite sure if I’d have time or not, but was working every evening until late. Also, not sleeping as much as I would like.

Finished Thursday and went to visit a friend in Sao Paulo for the weekend, which gave me time to catch up on sleep and get out to do some decent runs. I was really pleased I managed to get in nearly 40k at the weekend. I know I can’t make a habit of missing mid-week sessions but hoping this weekend’s runs have put me back on track a bit.

COACH

It’s not ideal to be missing sessions but I genuine believe you’re ahead of the curve when it comes to your marathon preparation. With this weekly feedback and the ways it’s presented, what we’ll be able to do is look back at the end of the plan at the weekly totals. In this case 46% completed. So from a personal point of you, you don’t want to get to race day and look back with regrets that you’ve got 4 or 5 weeks where you just missed too much. 1 or 2 is fine, that will always be the case, but hopefully this new addition to the feedback and dashboard adds that extra accountability. It definitely helps me. All that said, it does sound like much of it was out of your control in terms of work, so it’s important then not to be disappointing in ourselves on this occasion and we can always make amends by adding some extra points over the next few weeks, which I’ve done already.
