Used this as a recovery run. Kept telling myself “drop the ego” take it easy and really enjoyed it. The less impact on these runs the better so got seven miles in at 9:30 miles!

Exactly. Some of the World’s best marathon runners go over 9 min miling on their easy runs. It’s important we do slow it down from time to time and it works the muscles slightly differently which can help as well. Glad you enjoyed it as well.
