Half Taper Session

LOAD: 25

5km @ Half Marathon Pace
(RPE: 6)
3 minutes recovery

5 x 200 metres @ Target Time (RPE: 9)
60 second recoveries

2km CD @ Easy Pace (RPE: 3)

A really good session to do the week of a half marathon. A chance to practice race pace at a lower volume and get some speed in the legs.

😁 Good pace given the conditions/route

PACE

Bit of a weird one, this. My half marathon target pace usually feels fine but today it took me a long time to warm up to it. I saw I was too slow and panicked a bit so beefed it up a bit but then went too fast. I know on the day I’ll do the same as I did at Hellingly – not look at my watch and just settle into an appropriate pace for whichever part of the course I’m on. It was a pleasant run in the park and the 200 metre efforts went fine, shown in final km as 4:41. Hope you are OK coach!

Well done Sarah. Probably a bit slow after Sunday’s effort, that’s all. And better than being too fast and running out of energy. Nice pace on the 200s as well. I’m getting there. Stomach bug was a pretty nasty one. Not ideal timing but better last week than this. Whether I’ll have the energy to run the race I’ve been training for we shall see, but grateful I’m fit and healthy to run, whatever the clock says when I cross the line 😁
