Plan 5 – Week 5

  • Sep 29-5

Not much progress this week I’m afraid.

This is just down to a number of circumstances which I know are excuses and I really just need to get the sessions done – but thought you should know why.

Tuesday I had planned to run but work meant I didn’t. Wednesday I enjoyed the run but had to walk at the last third as had a sudden stomach upset, however managed most of it.

My back has been waking me up in the mornings so I haven’t been sleeping well. Saturday and Sunday we were very busy doing a lot of sorting/jobs in our house which we had to get done, so I didn’t run Saturday. My leg muscles do ache quite a bit from lifting and moving things- a sort of leg workout at least.

I was planning to run Sunday afternoon when we had finished the jobs, but the back has been painful this afternoon so just decided to rest and start again next week. Sorry.

The plan is good – again I need to just get out there and get it done and get back into a more regular routine.

If I wasn’t on the plan I expect I wouldn’t have done any of the sessions over the last few weeks so it does really help me with keeping fit, thank you. The back doesn’t usually hurt when I walk or run, just this afternoon so I’m taking it easy today.

Next week is a new week!

No injury issues

COACH

Sorry to hear about the back Ellie. I stretch daily for 15 mins due to back problems in the past and it keeps them at bay. Something to consider. Certain stretches can be done at any time of day (eg waiting for the kettle to boil). I think given we are not working towards a big race at the end of this plan, I think it’s important to not be too disappointed at the missed runs yet. As you say, the plan has still helped you get out, so that’s good news. Hopefully as things settle done, you’ll get back into the swing of things again.
