Plan 1 – Week 2

  • Sep 29-5

Enjoyed the week and the high light was the Wednesday for me. Completing a full session and I finished strong which felt like it gave me some confidence. It’s just a pity I got drunk and ruined Sundays race. There will always be another race but it was good to see my friend.

Now the HM is out of the way is time to knuckle down and get some good training in. I am looking forward to the coming weeks.

COACH

To be honest I’m buzzing. No matter how much past success you have with runners, entering a big weekend as a coach is really nerve wracking and you can’t help but wonder, what if everyone fails? Especially Hastings Half, where they ran the final 2.5 miles into a 20mph headwind. But once again the results were excellent, the highlight Paul’s 2:57 marathon averaging just 3.4 runs per week and never hitting more than 60k in a week. I point this out because it goes back to what you said about Wednesday and hitting those targets and feeling strong. Those 2 sessions each week are really where the magic happens and everything else supports those. So if we keep focusing on staying fresh for the sessions and working hard when it matters, I think you’ll soon start to see those improvements. Assuming you don’t have 8 beers and 8 rums before every race πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‚
