60 Mins Easy (Hills)

LOAD: 24

60 Mins @ Easy Pace (RPE: 2-5)

60 mins on the flat is quite different to 60 mins on the hills. So it’s important to differentiate between the two and if you do a hilly easy run, to account for that extra training load and how it might impact the rest of your week.

ENJOYMENT

RPE

👊 Nailed my target

PACE

A nice easy 11k in 60mins, running at my comfort 50k pace. No issues or niggles, although hip started aching at halfway but went away again. Felt fit rather than f*cked after HHM, which is positive.

Great job Sam. Glad you feel pretty good. It’s been a hectic race season for you but results have been excellent. I’m actually looking at tweaking my plans going forward to ease back the training during the race season, as we’ve done with you. The idea being we peak for the key race season, by training a little harder in the build up. But during the race season itself and afterwards we ease back. So we don’t spent the whole year working at the same intensity and suffering from cumulative fatigue. I think it’s a good mix up which will certainly help someone like yourself who loves a race. The question to ask when planning your year would be which two periods of 2026 do I want to peak for? That will then determine which races you pick and we can create a plan around that. For most of the team it will March/April – Sept/Oct when 90% of the big races take place.
