Plan 1 – Week 16

  • Oct 6-12

Managed all of the sessions again. Was a struggle as I had a cold 🀧 but got it done. Was keen to complete it as knew it was the last week of the plan. I’m pleased with how it’s going.

No injury issues

COACH

Another strong week. Great stuff Lou. Of those two races my personal preference is Paddock Wood. Eastbourne itself is mainly dead flat apart from the one horrible long climb and it just always feels a bit underwhelming to me as a race. At PW it’s a deep field which means you should always find yourself in a strong pack of runners which can really help. One of my favourite things about PW too is the team element where we travel up as a small group, warm up together, support each other and normally results are good which provides a really good atmosphere. I 100% agree with what you said about the 5k, it’s amazing how accurate you can predict the times across all distances based on someone’s current 5k. My only concern with targeting the 5k would be the increased risk of injury for you as it would mean more shorter high intensity sessions. So having a longer distance goal like the half, and working on your 5k alongside that, would probably be the best approach in my opinion.
