Plan 2 – Week 11

  • Oct 13-19

If someone had offered me 1.23 as a half time before today, absolutely would’ve taken it. That said, as you can see from my Strava, I wouldn’t say I managed the race particularly well. I still worry about fuelling sufficiently over 42 as well, as I still find taking in gels challenging (I had half of one in this race).

In general, really pleased. Thank you for all you support Simon. The plans have really helped me focus and train smart, which I was lacking before.

No injury issues

COACH

A brilliant result Sunday. I think for me, the best outcome of any race is to be really pleased with your time, but then also think, you know what I could have done this a bit better. Rather than “I’ve got nothing extra to give or improve”. So see that as a positive for sure. In terms of the fuelling, yes we need to make sure you are getting more carbs during those long runs as otherwise the marathon will end badly. What about switching it up quickly to chews? Or Kendall Mint Cakes. Obviously we are a little short on time, but no reason you can’t practice taken them or more of the runs, not just the long runs. It’s all about training the gut as much as getting that energy in. Happy to have a discussion about it. But really well done on such a brilliant half marathon time.
