PB Runner - What's New?
Let's start with the Barry Richards 10K. What an evening. So proud of the team. It was tough. Our predictions were based on a modest forecast of 8mph wind. Who forecast that? Michael Fish?
It was clearly much more challenging than we expected, but you know what, that wasn't reflected in the times.
I've already posted the PBs on socials, and you can click on the PBs page to view how the team did. So I won't list them all again, but just wanted to make the point about how as a team, we were so positive and worked so hard. I was delighted.
It was a busy week with the launch of the new platform. I still have tweaks to make but I'm really pleased with how it's turned out. Thank you for your patience and your feedback.
I just wanted to use this week's blog as a chance to explain what is different and new from previously.
Once you are logged in, you have the "Feed" to keep tabs on what the team are up to in recent days/weeks. There is a chat function — it's just there if you want to share something with the team or get some communication going.
The popular 100% club can now be viewed at all times. Calculations are done automatically. If you earn between 95-110% of your training target for that week, welcome to the club. If you don't, and it's not injury or illness related, you will lose 5 weeks off your current streak.
I know, perhaps that is a bit harsh, but it provides the incentive to keep up with the training and hit those targets.
I will slowly be adding races to the platform. Where possible I will attach a GPX file, which gives us a detailed breakdown of the route, and the platform will then calculate your pace targets for each km or mile. This is worked out from your current predicted 5k pace. So if anything looks wrong, just let me know.
I also have the ability to add weather conditions to the races to see how that affects our target pace. Although it seems the weather didn't impact Thursday's results as much as expected. Perhaps that is just because we are awesome.
Still, it's one of my favourite parts of the new website, and you can now keep track of your race results.
What else can you do?
There are lots of options under your runner drop-down menu. You can view your PBs and training stats, update your settings, and view your training plans (still some updating needed here).
My S&C is an addition I always wanted on the old platform but could not implement. This allows you to enter the current sets, reps and weights you are using for your strength work. If you enter that data, it will then appear alongside the exercises on your S&C sessions. You can then update it whenever you make progress.
