10K Race

LOAD: 41

2km WU @ Easy Pace (RPE: 2)

10km @ 10km Pace (RPE: 6-8)

2km CD @ Easy Pace (RPE: 3)

Pacing is everything when it comes to a 10k race. The first half of the race should feel controlled and then you’ll really have to dig deep as the RPE rises. Try and maintain consistent splits throughout. If the route is undulating be sure to do your homework so you know when the hills are coming and how long they will last.

The Saucony 10K. A great race to be part of. Based on your performance at the 5 Miler in June, I think you could be looking at around 55 mins here. So might be worth trying to find a pacer at that time and just stick with them. It’s slightly slower than the pace you averaged in the 5 Miler, so I think’s it achievable. Very best of luck. I really hope this go well. Dig deep when it gets tough around the 6-7km mark. It will be worth it in the end. You got this Kirsty.

FEEDBACK

ENJOYMENT

RPE

😁 Good pace given the conditions/route

PACE

I’m a tad confused what has happened on Strava as my 10K saucony time was 56.08. I felt strong and throughly enjoyed it considering my ribs. This week I’m going back on plan as I’m really happy with my performance considering the ribs.

That is a really good time given you’ve had problems over the past few weeks. Glad you enjoyed first and foremost but equally well done on running such a good race despite the ribs. A big step forward this one. Great job Kirsty.
