Long Run – 120 Mins

LOAD: 350

120 Mins @ Easy Pace (RPE: 3-5)

2 hours is a long time to run and it’s likely it will get tough in the last 30 mins. So dig deep, focus on good form and keep going. You got this!

Doesn’t need to be Sunday, but my only concern if switching it to the Saturday crew is you won’t be running “your pace”. So just bear that in mind. Be a little selfish sometimes in a slower group, no-one minds a quicker runner so long as they loop back.

Id planned a route that was just under 10 miles because I knew I had to be back by 11 for a meeting. Unfortunately things didn’t go to plan. The actual route was cool, I was tryna make it as off road as possible so found lots of little footpaths and then through ponds woods into coombe valley and bultherhythe. But my ankles were really flaring up. I tripped right at the beginning which did not help. I ran straight into a tree branch and bashed my head 😅 and I really really struggled with the heat. I was all about trying to take it easy coz too be honest I’m a little concerned with my heart rate lately and palpitations I’m having and I have noticed even for easy runs it’s still running pretty high so the mindset today was to keep it low, but I just couldn’t and it was actually starting to cause dizzy spells. I loved finding new paths and stuff though and I think if I hadn’t had to worry about getting back i would have enjoyed it more

Sorry to hear it didn’t go to plan, but it does sounds like a fun route. The heat the last few days has been bonkers and won’t last long. Just unlucky with the timing really. I think any concern about heart rate should be taken seriously. It might be worth investing in a monitor. Garmin do chest straps that give more reliable readings. Or perhaps a visit to the GP just to be sure everything is ok. But well done for getting out there and hope the head isn’t too sore after being bashed by the branch. Almost sounds like one of my clumsy off road ventures. Well done Kelly. Keep me posted about the heart rate issues. Perhaps the dizzy spells could have been the heat, but that’s just me speculating.
