Long Run – 120 Mins

LOAD: 350

120 Mins @ Easy Pace (RPE: 3-5)

2 hours is a long time to run and it’s likely it will get tough in the last 30 mins. So dig deep, focus on good form and keep going. You got this!

I’ve tweaked the plan because you’ve impressed me in recent races and I think you’re ready to step up the training load a touch. 790 our aim this week. But we’ll keep most of the miles easy just so we don’t overdo things. Don’t worry about pace here, all about time on feet. Perhaps even include some trails as that takes away that pressure about how fast we are going all the time.

Found this one tougher than expected. Legs felt a bit heavy but I did do quite a bit of uphill in the first part of the run. Experienced pretty much all weather conditions during the run as well, wind, rain and then sun! Only looked at my pace once at the halfway point and then not again until the end so I was quite happy to see id covered 9.5 miles!

Sometimes a run, for no apparent reason, just feels tougher. In fact I often mention the rule of thirds, apologies if I’ve told you this already. A 3rd of runs feel great, a third feel ok and a third feel rubbish. It’s good to accept that 1 in every 3 runs will be tough and not overthink it, then you can quickly move on, and know there will be better runs ahead. Well done for getting the 2 hours in. That means it’s a success.
