Long Run – 120 Mins

LOAD: 350

120 Mins @ Easy Pace (RPE: 3-5)

2 hours is a long time to run and it’s likely it will get tough in the last 30 mins. So dig deep, focus on good form and keep going. You got this!

A lot of us are doing the 5 Miler Sunday. If you fancied giving it a go, let me know. But I felt at this stage of the plan I wanted that to be your choice rather than it feel like I was pushing you to run it.

It was a massive struggle but I got it done in two parts. Felt fatigued from mile 1 on the seafront, got to 53 mins and quit. Went home refuelled, gave myself a talking to, went back out and got it done. Kept getting a stitch, then a niggle in my left hamstring, that went only to be replaced with a right calf niggle 🙄. Walked and stretched as needed. Actually felt better on the hills than the flat 🤷‍♀️.

This does sound eventful, but ultimately you got it done when it was easier to quit, so that’s a massive win. Niggles can come and go. My approach and one I often advise is if the pain is 4/10 or less, just keep going. Beyond that and time to stop and seek advice. I’ve found in the past I get a stitch when I’m dehydrated and not taken on enough water. I’ve never seen any proof this is a cause of a stitch but multiple times that’s been the issue for me, so something to consider perhaps. All in all, though job done, so really well done Lou. Onwards and upwards. It’s been a really good week so you should be very happy. I am.
