PACE

I’ve never done Rye to Hastings before and I’m just after doing my 8 this year and nothing else. No PBs, no winning my age group, just the bare minimum as I’m nowhere near my normal pace levels at the moment. So I took this on feeling I wasn’t in a race which I gotta admit felt good not to have that pressure. Didn’t care who passed me or who I wasn’t keeping up with, I just ticked along. And I think I did ok considering. Not my fastest but I was struggling with the Achilles today and my stomach was still on fire. Getting better, only one pack of antacids but still not feeling like it did a couple of weeks ago when it was almost back to normal. Otherwise I felt ok, another one ticked off the list this week is how I’m taking it.

Really like that mindset and it shows how important choosing the right goals can be. The fact you are just targeting the 8 and not worrying about PBs or awards, takes away any pressure or expectation and you can go out there more relaxed and just enjoy it. So really well done. Another run closer to the 8 as well which is great. Well done Kelly.
