Hastings Runners Handicap 5K

LOAD: 30

2km WU @ Easy Pace (RPE: 2)
8 x 100 Metres Strides (RPE: 8)

5km @ 5k Pace (RPE: 7-9)

2km CD @ East Pace (RPE: 3)

So important to know your 5k pace and stick to that at the start. The temptation is to go off too fast and try to catch people up quickly, don’t. Keep it consistent, trust your pacing and then in that final km you’ll start to catch those that have made that mistake.

Just do the best you can. Keep an eye on that calf. I’ve tweaked the time slightly but very wary I’m not biased towards those on the team. Kinda hoping it’s not one of Team 🍊 who wins after Mark won last year. I know that sounds silly but I don’t want people to think I’m doing anyone favours. On that note in case yourself or anyone questions Jax time, she’s not racing, due to her injury, just taking part to get another race towards her 8.

FEEDBACK

ENJOYMENT

RPE

😁 Good pace given the conditions/route

PACE

Really enjoyed that. Went off conservatively for the first mile and felt good, kept it safe for mile 2 and mile 3 I could feel my calf and then inner thigh say hello so had to ease off. Whilst leg was a problem, I felt strong and lungs were okay, so looks promising if I can sort out leg. Do you have any recommendations for a physio? I think I need professional help to sort this once and for all!

Really pleased you enjoyed this one. Sorry to the calf is still an issue. In terms of physio’s, Hannah Collison is the one I recommend. I’ve not used her myself but know several people who have and she was also recommended by Mary Sanderson who I have a lot of respect and admiration for. Hope you are able to get it sorted soon.
