240 Mins

LOAD: 72

240 Mins @ Easy Pace (RPE: 3-8)

All about time on feet. Don’t push the pace early on and ensure you are well hydrated and have fuel to take on at regular intervals.

FEEDBACK

ENJOYMENT

RPE

🤬 Way off pace today

PACE

Mixed bag in terms of self reflection. Found it very very tough. Felt rubbish even in the first 5km. Got a bit better after that but still took some tactical walk breaks for fuel etc. Seem to fall off a bit towards the end and ended up Jeffing the last 45mins which kind of got me through it. Pleased I dug in and got it done, however it has made me worried about the marathon. My average pace today would only just get me through the 20mile/32km checkpoint (4hrs 30min), overall cut off is 6hrs. And there is the heat to contend with potentially. Might do better on the day though and in the race with others around me? Nothing was particularly injured. Just was tired and generally hurting. Happy to get it done though

Honesty fantastic work. From my experience a training run like is so much harder than race day. You just get no support here, in fact our brains are constantly throwing negative shit (excuse the language) at us to tell us to stop being crazy and rest 😂 But on race day that switches by having the support of others around us, and the crowd. This was all about time on feet, which was the most important thing. And come Las Palmas you’ll be better rested in terms of the training in the build up. So there are 3 or 4 reasons why race day will feel easier. So try not to overthink it. You got this done and that’s the most important thing, so really well done Andy.
