240 Min Long Run

LOAD: 850

240 Mins @ Easy Pace (RPE: 3-8)

All about time on feet. Don’t push the pace early on and ensure you are well hydrated and have fuel to take on at regular intervals.

All about time on feet again here. A chance to get your race kit on, practice fuelling, running on tired legs. Also try and put things in perspective, 4 hours isn’t that long when you factor in the time you’ll be on your feet for the Race to Stones. That’s not trying to put you off by the way, just trying to help get through this one. I had that same mentality when I did the Rye Ancient Trails 30k, the week before the Bates Green Gallop last year. At 25km, when I’d normally be really exhausted searching for the finish, I was actually telling myself that in 7 days time, this would be the halfway point, and it made a huge difference.

Really struggled today. Felt like I had absolutely nothing in the tank at all! Bit of a disappointment. I just hope that’s the standard rubbish training run we always have before the day, after that it can only go up surely

But you kept going right? This is important to have this feeling, because it’s exactly how you are going to feel at the latter stages of your ultra. If we felt great on all our training runs then when that time in the ultra comes that we feel like shit, we’re not prepared for it. So from my point of view, this is probably the best thing that could happen. And it’s normal, we have runs like this. I had an absolute stinker Sunday. Best thing to do is move on to the next one and not overthink. 4 hours is still bloody impressive so great job Stacey.
