3 x 20 Mins Marathon Pace

LOAD: 45

20 Mins @ Easy Pace (RPE: 3)
20 Mins @ Marathon Pace (RPE: 5)
x 3

A good opportunity to practice some marathon pace on your long run. Crucial if you have a time in mind. Also sometimes a good option to add some variety to a normal 2 hour long run.

Why the marathon pace? Both for variety and just to ensure we don’t burn you out before we start bringing in the half marathon sessions. The plan needs to be progressive and right now we’re just keeping things consistent. Let’s be honest, for you, 2 hours at this pace, you’re going to cover some serious mileage, so it’s still an excellent session. Ideally keep to that marathon pace though, even if it feels too easy, that’s the idea right now. I’d rather you finish this fresh.

Well that was hot out there for that!! Felt pretty good for that though juat over 18mile with a short cool down. The last mile was a bit tough as I had ran out of water by then and needed it, but it got done and on pace I think. Nice to get that lenght of run in the legs.

Holy shit, that is a serious distance to cover. I sometimes forget how fast you are and how much you can do in 2 hours. I’ll bear that in mind. But hopefully a little confidence booster that it’s there if you need it. Only fractionally under on the marathon pace miles so that’s cool. Fantastic running Steve.
