Rye to Hastings

LOAD: 65

10 Mins WU @ Easy Pace (RPE: 2)

12 Miles @ HM Pace (RPE: 5-8)

10 Mins CD @ Easy Pace (RPE: 3)

3 Races in 1. 9km of flat through the nature reserve and tricky Sea Wall. Nothing quicker than half marathon pace through this section. Then comes the climb, take your time and walk where needed. The finish from the top of Barley Lane is great fun, let yourself go and you could be running anywhere between 5-10k pace down the hill.

This ‘trying harder’ is becoming a habit! I definitely worked hard again today. My breathing rate was elevated higher than usual and I was pushing myself – but I did not tail off in the last couple of miles. So I’m pleased with my result – 7 mins quicker than last year. Also, coach, may I share with you that I may have found a solution to my race day gut problems! In Budapest, I drank a lot of homemade lemonade in the 2 days before the race. I was really worried as I’d only managed one poop before the race (!) but all was ok. So yesterday I drank a lot of my own homemade lemonade – juice of two lemons – and all was fine today :o) Unlike last week when I had to dodge into the bushes 3 times :o(

Please share, I find it all very interesting and you never know who else it might help in the future. Definitely worth trying again. Also I imagine it’s pretty healthy if made with real lemons, so that’s good. What else do you add out of interest to make the lemonade? I tend to avoid sugar and sweeteners so that might rule it out for me. The race? Really well done. That’s a massive improvement on last year and so pleased you were able to dig deep and maintain a high effort. It feels really good when you can finish a run like this stronger and be proud of your efforts. A good sign for the HHM coming up. Awesome work Sarah.
