30 Mins Easy

LOAD: 60

30 Mins @ Easy Pace (RPE: 3)

Sometimes a 30 minute shake out can help recovery or just give you some much needed head space. Keep it easy.

Not sure on your plans up in London but if you have company and wanted to get out for a shake out run then I think that’s a pretty good idea. A chance to run somewhere different as well.

A lovely little jaunt, route chosen for its SHADE. Good job I had a run scheduled today or I might have got to marathon day without realising I hadn’t packed a sports bra!! Quick trip to TK Maxx for the required item, held up somewhat by spotting not one but two pairs of loose summer trousers which I could not resist. So I ran later than planned and the heat was ramping up. On the positive side I am 95% over the kidney stone with just a little lingering pain in my side. so pleased to have recovered in time from the stone – and the painkillers which make me vomit after a few doses. All good re illness and injury – now the worry for many runners will be the heat. Prof Sharma (London marathon physician and my cardiologist!) has made all the usual recommendations about hydration, etc, and also asks people to think twice about wearing fancy dress! Anyway I shall follow hydration rules and listen to my body and just do what I can on the day. Feeling pretty good, thanks Simon.

That was lucky about the sports bra! I always come out of TK Maxx with more than I went in for. Love that shop. Yeah the weather is a git, hopefully the clouds do roll in and you get some protection from the sun. But take a hat, drink plenty, pour water on you. I think try not to use it as an excuse if you can, it will inevitably slow you down a bit, but don’t fall into the trap of convincing yourself it’s “too hot to run” and giving up on the race before you’ve started. Be smart, stay positive and I think you’ll run a very good race. All the best Sarah. I’ll try and reach out Saturday evening as well.
