4 x 2 Miles

LOAD: 50

1 Mile WU @ Easy Pace (RPE: 3)

2 Miles @ Half Marathon Pace (RPE: 6-8)
1 Mile @ Easy Pace (RPE: 3)
x 4

A big half marathon session for those who like to work in miles. A real opportunity to practice goal pace and build some confidence ahead of your race. Each rep will get progressively tougher, so dig deep towards the end of this one.

👊 Nailed my target

PACE

Nailed my target pace (6:30) but could only manage 3x 2mi reps, once the lactate built up I had nothing left. Reps – 6:27, 6:28, 6:26, 6:29, 6:30, 6:31. Very disappointed and not where I thought we would be at 🤷‍♂️.

Firstly great pacing for the miles you hit. I think it’s important not to overthink one run too much. If it happened again, then yes, it would be a worry. In hindsight when I look at the plan, my reaction is perhaps this was the wrong session at this stage of the week. It should be closer to a half marathon race in truth so I’m taking the blame here and that’s why I think that last 2 mile wasn’t possible, not your fitness, I think the signs have all suggested you’re making progress and running well up until this point. But what we can do is react, rather than just accept that didn’t quite go to plan, we tweak the schedule the following week and that’s what I’ve done. I’ve put a more challenging half marathon session in the schedule than was originally planned and this help ensure we do stay on track. Based on how well the rest of the team are performing I have a lot of faith in the plans at the moment, so this one mini blip doesn’t worry me. Well done for hitting those paces Adam. Onwards and upwards.
