5 x 1km

LOAD: 26

2km WU @ Easy Pace (RPE: 3)

1km @ 5k Pace (RPE: 8)
2 minutes recovery
x5

2km CD @ Easy Pace (RPE: 3)

Classic session. Super simple. The end result being you have a better understanding of your current time for a 5K. Work hard and ideally finish each rep a few seconds quicker than your current 5k pace.

FEEDBACK

ENJOYMENT

RPE

🙄 Just a fraction slow

PACE

Managed the first 3 reps at around 7.40 pace which felt good, but couldn’t hold the pace for the last 2 reps, which disappointed me. I probably should have aimed for a slower pace, I don’t think my current 5k pace is that fast. I think realistically it’s around 08.15, but I like having something to aim for, so don’t really want you to change my target pace if that’s ok.

As a running coach whenever I see a runner out and about it’s my natural instinct to judge their form and see how they are running. I saw you in the distance and my reaction was “wow she’s a strong runner”. As you came closer it only then dawned it me that it was you, which gave me a real sense of pride to see, knowing that we work together and you were out moving so well and looking so strong. Granted, as you said, it was the start of the session, but even so it was great to witness. Glad it went well and like last week, we’re still new to this 5k pace, so stick with it and your speed endurance will improve. Awesome work Lou.
