60 Mins Easy to Marathon Pace

LOAD: 180

20 Mins @ Easy Pace (RPE: 2)
20 Mins @ Steady Pace (RPE: 3)
20 Mins @ Marathon Pace (RPE: 4)

Rather than just head out and do 60 mins easy, this goes through the gears a little and will hopefully help you improve running economy as the speed picks up a little. It’s still a light session but makes the easy runs more interesting. Best done on the flat to hit consistent paces.

I do like this session. 20 mins of marathon pace should be a piece of piss really. But it does getting you thinking about form to keep that RPE down.

This OK but not an ‘easy’ run for me, felt like I had to work a bit hard to maintain the paces (but it wasn’t flat or straight which always makes thing a bit trickier). Did the last bit coming up London Road so that was hard work. Average paces: 5:01, 4:51 & 4:41 – so not too far off target.

Well done Sam, good to pick up the pace a little when the longer runs are slowing down a touch. If adding in elevation I would let the pace drop. Any hill is going to feel like a push, regardless of the pace targets. Session done though, which is great.
