FEEDBACK

ENJOYMENT

RPE

🙄 Just a fraction slow

PACE

Ah Simon, I was giving you feedback in my head for the ENTIRE RUN so very glad you didn’t have to put up with all of it in real-time!!!! I started off VERY SLOW and didn’t get a lot faster- had to repeat a mantra ‘no one cares if you are slow’ and do some epic ego- swallowing when a woman ran past me at my usual pace! However, I did actually come up with something useful; visualising the muscle that hurts as just being a bit red and being worked like plasticine to soften it up. I also realised that I hurt it during a specific half hour run (I know exactlywhich run it was)- not through sustained overuse, and that my legs are strong and used to running… so maybe that muscle just got a bit pulled or something, but it won’t necessarily fail me completely! Plus, if I enter an event and DNF, no one will die! Don’t know how much of that makes sense, but it was a useful set of thoughts in the end. God, Im so irritatingly obsessive! Pain was actually very low the whole time, though noticeable. Hope your training is going well! X

Thanks for sharing. This feedback really helps me. I understand where you are coming from, but the only person really judging us, is ourselves. If you were heading out for a 10k tempo session and were “slow”, then we’d be worried about pace. But the whole point of these runs is for time on feet. You’re a different type of runner as well, so it’s important to remember that and not compare yourself to those chasing 5k or 10k paces. Their training is different for good reason. Funnily enough I’ve suddenly got some ankle pain appear from nowhere, happened whilst I was working 🤷‍♂️ at my desk. I have ran on it since and it was fine and plan to just carry on as normal Sunday and until that moment it potentially gets too painful, I’ll just carry on and hoping it sorts itself out. The joys of being a runner. See you Sunday. Everyone has so much respect for you as a runner and what you’ve achieved, including me, so I hope you know that. Remember Beachy Head and how you cruised past me up the hill.
