60 Mins Swimming @ Easy Pace (RPE: 3)

It’s said that 1 minute of swimming has the same benefit as 1 minute of running. So a nice 60 minute swim replaces an easy run and takes away any impact. Ideal if you are struggling a little with injury.

AS always with these swims if time is limited chuck in a few higher effort lengths.

I haven’t yet mastered the swimming pool times and figured out the best time to go to get a decent session when it’s not too busy. I ended up a bit short on time so did 300m warm up 5x100m 5x50m and a 200m cool down. Felt like a good solid session and struggled to keep the effort high on the last few reps.

You’re doing the right thing though. By introducing that higher effort you will ensure the training load is where we want it to be. And ultimately that’s the most important thing. Sometimes a slower longer swim will help, as the physiological benefits will be different, but in this scenario, working a bit harder is ideal. Well done Alice.
