LOAD: 45

2km WU @ Easy Pace (RPE: 2)

10.3km @ HM – Marathon Pace (RPE: 6-9)

2km CD @ Easy Pace (RPE: 3)

Hard to set a pace given the elevation. A tough route but a great race. Can be done as an easy run if you prefer. VIEW THE ROUTE.

Feels like this race was made for you. My advice would be start of conservatively and just sit in the pack, even if it means being held up a little down through the woods. Then look to pick up the effort in laps 2 and 3. If you do this you’ll spend the 2nd half of the race picking off those who went off too hard and don’t have your mental strength or hill climbing skills. I think this approach would lead to a very enjoyable race. Good luck Anna.

Ha ha well it turns out a pitta bread was insufficient so I was pretty out of sorts for the middle of the race… even thought I may have to drop out at one point but thank God the fizzy fish kicked in and I was back on form in lap 3! Not the fastest or most enjoyable because of all that, but lovely weather, scenery and people. And 1 hour 4 is okay. Well done yourself! What was your time?

Well done Anna, it’s tough to get it right in terms of fuelling for a 7pm race. As really eating beforehand is just not an option. Not for me anyway, so glad the sweets did their job and you were able to run a really solid race. Also really pleased to hear you enjoyed it, I’m not sure everyone else did. I was around the 49 minute mark, a bit slower than my best but I did get my hat caught on a bramble for about 10 seconds 😂 Definitely a good run for progressing our fitness levels though.
