Bexhill 5K

LOAD: 250

10 Mins WU @ Easy Pace (RPE: 2)

5K @ 5K Pace (RPE: 6-9)

10 Mins CD @ Easy Pace (RPE: 3)

If the wind is kind then these events offer a good opportunity for a fast time. There are several switchbacks which can slow you down.

Looks like it will be breezy, but the benefit of that is you might have less quick runners along. So always see it as a positive rather than a negative.

A promising race, the best way I can put this, is I won’t get better at running fast unless I do it! First mile was about apprehensive at 5:52, the second which followed was a 5:59, which was annoying because the majority wasn’t into the wind. About of work to do there. 3rd mile running directly into the wind was a 6:05 so managed to keep some pace. Finished strong but that second mile was frustrating! Enjoyed it though!

As you say practice makes perfect. But it’s good to be part of a local series. It will come. Getting comfortable feeling uncomfortable is a key part of racing 5ks well. Another excellent result and this will help the fitness progress.
