Half Marathon Taper Session

10 Mins WU @ Easy Pace (RPE: 2)

5km @ Half Marathon Pace
(RPE: 5-6)
3 minutes recovery

5 x 200 metres @ Target Time (RPE: 9)
60 second recoveries

10 Mins CD @ Easy Pace (RPE: 3)

A really good session to do the week of a half marathon. A chance to practice race pace at a lower volume and get some speed in the legs.

This has worked really well for many of the team in the week of a half marathon. A chance to practice goal pace and smash out some speed. Enjoy.

Nice session. I know I pushed the 5k prob a bit hard but was feeling good and wanted to see if I could maintain 4 mins for each km. Conscious that I won’t be doing those times on Sunday. Feeling good for the race on Sunday.

No worries. What that will hopefully do is make half marathon pace on Sunday feel much easier, especially early in the race. But be sure to really focus on that early pace, and hold yourself back. Great session Ben.
