Hastings Runners Handicap 5K

LOAD: 30

2km WU @ Easy Pace (RPE: 2)
8 x 100 Metres Strides (RPE: 8)

5km @ 5k Pace (RPE: 7-9)

2km CD @ East Pace (RPE: 3)

So important to know your 5k pace and stick to that at the start. The temptation is to go off too fast and try to catch people up quickly, don’t. Keep it consistent, trust your pacing and then in that final km you’ll start to catch those that have made that mistake.

A good chance to push hard and make some gains. We’ll be starting together so can offer that little bit of support for the first few km at least.

🤬 Way off pace today

Congratulations Simon, great run. 👏 I’m disappointed but not surprised with my run to be honest, thought I could stay sub 20 but don’t think I even managed that. Going through a rough patch at work and home at the moment so I guess it’s taking its toll on my running. No energy to push like I know I can.

I felt a bit bad that we separated and almost like I was a hinderance to you in this race. But from recent feedback I was aware things had been draining of late for you. So I think it’s important to have that awareness and not be hard on yourself. Given the hours you do, it’s pretty impressive you find the time to train as you do. A week off coming up which will hopefully help. Also if you ever want to unload anything about work or stuff, happy to listen, if it helps. I know from personal experience sometimes it can just help to vent.
