Hastings Half Marathon

LOAD: 66

10 Mins WU @ Easy Pace (RPE: 3)

13.1 Miles @ HM Pace (RPE: 6)

The big one!! For most of us at least. Try to have a clear pacing strategy and don’t go off too fast. The early hills will be tough, but if you dig deep and don’t panic, it’s gets easier once you hit the ridge. Go smash it!

FEEDBACK

ENJOYMENT

RPE

🙄 Just a fraction slow

PACE

Thought I’d enjoy this but absolutely hated it! Loved the start with everyone and the finish chatting to everyone. But didn’t enjoy the race. I felt it was a bit quick at the start which knackered me for the end. My head went into a dark place and as much as I trued I couldn’t get going, especially once I lost the team. Absolutely pushed myself and achy like anything this evening. 2.hrs 3 mins!! I just can’t break it!

Sorry to hear you didn’t enjoy the race Lou. That makes me sad. But what I would say having looked at your stats and taking into account the wind in the final stretch is I think with better conditions and possible slightly different pacing, I think you’re pretty much at the level to achieve that sub 2. So if you were able to make further improvements over the winter with your fitness then you’ll be in an even better position come March. My sub 3:30 at the weekend has taken me about 4 years to achieve and I’ve entered I think 5 or 6 marathons to achieve it. So it can take time and if you fail a few times first, it feels so much sweeter when you finally achieve it. Which I’m confident you will.
