50K Ultra

LOAD: 90

50K @ Easy Pace (RPE: 3-5)

So important to respect the distance and get the pacing right. If you go off at a comfortable enough pace, then you’ll run a good race. Keep fuelling even if you don’t feel like it. Ultra’s have been described as “eating contests” by some of the leading runners. Walk the hills if need be.

1st ultra completed. Sorry feedback is so late! Surprisingly really enjoyed it. 1st half was really good. Stayed in the group for the 1st mile then went off. Blisters half way wasnt good but quick change of shoes and they felt better! Not quite sure how people eat so much. I couldnt eat atal other than a few pick a mix sweets! No way could I face eating a sandwiches half way 😂 Really happy with the result though never though id come in 15th lady. The last 10k was hard. Was lovely to see the others sprint finish after that distance

Superb and lovely to hear you enjoyed it too as I know you’ve not always found trail running to your liking. But it sounded like a good route and I think you made the right choice to run your own race. Eating is definitely an art when it comes to ultra running and probably just something that you’re not used to and why you found it so difficult. But an excellent outcome and really pleased you recovered so quickly too.
