Kings Head Canter

LOAD: 25

2km WU @ Easy Pace (RPE: 3)

5km @ 5k Pace (RPE: 8)

2km CD @ Easy Pace (RPE: 3)

Not really a PB course with kilometres 2, 3 and 4 all gentle uphill before a downhill finish. A great event though with a lovely atmosphere at the finish. It’s a point to point so plan where you are going to park.

Welcome back home. A great race this. It is generally uphill in kms 2-4, so don’t worry about pace in that section, just try and keep running if you can, then once you get to the top of the hill with 1km to go, that’s the point to hit the accelerator and finish strongly. But no need to go chasing a time here, just enjoy what is a great event. Very best of luck.

😁 Good pace given the conditions/route

PACE

I am disappointed really…. The heat got to me and I had to walk due to feeling dizzy … when running my pace wasn’t to bad just couldn’t keep it up consistently! Feel I could have done better had I not felt so dizzy I know I shouldn’t be disappointed ☹️

Sorry to hear it didn’t go as well as you hoped. With my coaching hat on, my response is, right, today wasn’t our (I always see it as a joint effort, you the runner, me the coach) but what could we do differently in the same situation. The most obvious one is wear a hat. I’m amazed how few runners where a hat in that scenario. There’s a really good picture on your facebook post of yourself, Rachel and Ellie. Rachel is wearing a hat and virtually her whole face is in the shade, whilst you are taking the full brunt of the sun. So I think it’s important we don’t get down on what happened, but say, right next time conditions are warm, I can wear a hat, perhaps even sunglasses, and that might make a big difference. Well done for ticking off another race though Chrissie.
